5 stars*****

Janice Cantore has brought back one of my favorite cops, Carly Edwards of the Las Playas Police Department. Carly has recovered from her near death experience at the hand of some dirty cops.

Everything seems to be going good for Carly now that she is back on patrol with her partner Joe.
They are enjoying the thrill of pursuing and catching the bad guys and putting them in jail. Until the night they are patrolling near the hospital and they see lights coming from a building that is closed.
They catch the guy responsible for the break-in but little do they know the horrors that are going to befall them in the next few hours when the person waiting in the car gets away.

It seemed to be a routine night for Carly and Joe when the call comes through that Joe's wife is at the hospital very sick. They rush to the hospital shortly before she goes into a coma from a mysterious disease and because they aren't sure what caused her problems they decide to keep their four month old son, A.J. for observation. During the night someone slips into the nursery and kidnaps him.

Now not only does Carly have to worry about finding Joe's baby now she is also worried about Nick, her ex-husband. It seems he might be changing his mind about reconciling with her. Carly can't bear the thought of losing him again. Could he really think Carly is so shallow she would turn her back on him just because he was left with using a cane from a gunshot? Will Carly get her happy ending with Nick or will another man be able to sweep her off her feet instead?

I have loved Janice's books since I first read Accused, she is a talented writer and I love how well she draws you into the story from the very beginning. There are a few surprises in here I didn't see coming and I loved it!! Thanks Janice for another engaging book !!

Abducted Pacific Coast Justice Janice Cantore 9781414358482 Books Reviews

"Abducted" in the second in the "Pacific Coast Justice" series by Janice Cantore and again she gives you a story that once you start reading it you will NOT want to put it down.
Carly Edwards is a changed person. She has come to know God and is back with her ex-husband hoping to rebuild their relationship but nothing ever goes smoothly in life and that is what happens in Carly's life.
Nick, her ex-husband was severley injured in "Accused" and is now dealing with recovery and rehab from that injury and at the same time cutting Carly out of his life and hurting her at the same time. Carly turns it over to God.
At the same time, Carly's partner's infant son is kidnapped out of the hospital while Joe's (her partner) wife is in the hospital dealing with a unknown illness.
All sorts of action starts up with the kidnapping and the results are again alot of twists and turns that lead to alot of surprises and alot of challenges for Carly and her ex-husband, Nick.
If you want a good action packed police story than take a ride with Carly Edwards as she gets caught up in another exciting police adventure. You will not be disappointed.
There is a third book in the series which i am so looking forward to reading.
Janice Cantore knows what she writes about in this police drama because she, herself, lived the life.
There is a nice balance in the book between character development, plot development, secondary plot lines, plot twists, police procedural, the mystery, and real world Christian living. No stereotypes here. If some plot threads seem resolved too quickly, look again. It is clear we enter the story in the middle of the action, which keeps going, and keeps us tapping through e-pages all the way to the end. Incidentally, the tunnel briefly mentioned? There was a real tunnel like that found in similar location, serving the same purpose. For crafting a multilayered tale and for the realism, this writer scores 5 stars from me. This book is worth a reader's time and coin.

Content Clean. Any violence in the scenes with criminals is noted without detailed descriptions or gore.
Carly Edwards is back on patrol with her partner Joe. They get a call telling them to go to the hospital as Joe's wife has just been brought in. Joe and his wife have a 4 month old little boy named AJ. He too is brought into the hospital to be checked over to make sure everything is well with him. As Joe's wife spends days unconscious while the doctors run tests to find out what is wrong, AJ is abducted from the hospital by an unknown woman. Carly is determined to find out where AJ is and who took him.

Nick is Carly's ex husband. They have been working on reconciling but now Nick is backing off leaving Carly confused and angry. Ever since Nick was shot and been in rehab he's been acting differently towards Carly. Carly thought since both of their lives had changed with their commitment to Christ that things were going in the right direction. Not only is her relationship with Nick off, but also her relationship with her roommate and best friend Andrea has become rocky.

Between following clues to finding AJ and her relationships with Nick and Andrea, Carly learns that she must first and foremost put her trust in Christ.

Abducted is the second book in the Pacific Coast Justice series. I'm really enjoying this series. I like the strong character of Carly. She can be tough when she needs to be for the job, but she can also be soft and caring for the people in her life. The pace of the book moved along quickly and never seemed to lag. Several times I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting for some scene to play out before I could relax. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. If you like strong female characters with a bit of mystery and suspense thrown in with some romance this is a great series for you!
The mystery and suspense part is good. I have to admit it went a direction I did not suspect but I was not disappointed in the way it did go. The part I liked best is the realistic portrayal of people who have been very damaged working their way back together. I also liked the realistic portrayal of how many relationships are not able to survive one person becoming a Christian and the other party unwilling to accept this change.
